Adidas Originals – Introducing the Iniki Runner

Taking inspiration from 1970s running culture, adidas Originals presents a brand new silhouette for 2017; the INIKI.

Drawn from the brand with the 3-stripes’ own rich heritage in athletic footwear, the Iniki model takes elements from iconic runner designs and blends them with a striking modern perspective to create a technically advanced silhouette with a classic, nostalgic touch. A panelled construction of two-way stretch mesh with vintage suede overlays, finished with a shiny-mesh tongue, pays homage to classic runner constructions, whilst printed serrated 3-stripes marks reimagine an essential component of adidas heritage.

The Iniki then offers total evolution, utilising a concealed sock-fit design, OrthoLite® sockliner and BOOST midsole unit for the best in contemporary fit and comfort. Subtle details such as copper-tipped laces and a gum rubber tooling completes the contemporary-classic design, creating an authentic unity of the old and new.

Dr. Martens x Engineered Garments Launch Limited Collection

Dr Martens x Engineered Garments

Dr Martens and Engineered Garments have joined forces.  Equally big fans of each other, this collaboration fuses the essence of both brands through unique design and a premium lens.

The result is a twist on Dr Martens iconic 1461 shoe style – an ever-popular product that has been around since the early 1960’s.

engineered-garments-doc-martens

Available in five military-inspired colours (Milk Shake, Khaki, Navy, Black and White); the shades are muted to reflect the pared-back aesthetic of Engineered Garments, and to let the industrial manufacture Dr. Martens is famed for take centre stage. Asymmetric ghillie lacing is added because they were details on the first pair of DM’s Engineered Garments founder and head designer Daiki Suzuki ever saw. Traditional DM’s details—scripted heel loop, iconic yellow stitching and durable Goodyear welt—ensure each of the pairs remains classically stylish.

They remain all crafted in England in Dr. Martens original Northamptonshire factory, and are completed with a dual branded sicklier and patented AirWair™ technology for a supremely comfortable fit.

The Dr. Martens x Engineered Garments collection is available at The Hip Store on the 25th January 2017.

Universal Works Subtly Revamps Workwear Staples for Spring Summer 2017

The first drop of the new Universal Works collection will be arriving in store and online soon…

Regulars will be well aware by now that the collection does not change simply to be new.  Universal Works does what it does best; workwear staples.

This season they have revamped their uniform by exploring various inspirations from all things revolution: mid-century Cuba, the influence of the anti-establishment Beat movement in the USA and the graphic design work of Saul Bass with the key feeling being drawn from a collection of photographs taken by Magnum photographer Burt Glinn that captured the turning point of Cubas revolution.

Now, merge together this influence and design with a mix of military and workwear style; a blend of army supplies and oversized, but well tailored, civilian clothing.  Try combining and layering fits that are both casual and practical; team wide-legged oversized trousers of varying lengths with chore coats, four pocket and point collar shirts that reference the clothing of the Cuban rebels and Havana locals.

The print motif of a revolutionary styled fist and Caribbean palm pattern, sums up the contrast between the ideas of revolution and the beautiful paradise of Cuba – and most of all its people.  Expect boldly screen printed patterns adorning tees, sublimation printed jackets and beach shorts.

Keep checking back as more Universal Works will be landing online throughout the season.  In the mean time, check out the lookbook below.
