Carhartt WIP x New Balance
Workwear inspired label Carhartt WIP and the iconic Boston-based footwear brand New Balance collaborate to present the Sculpture Center capsule collection – based around a reimagined version of the classic ‘MADE In USA’ 990v1 silhouette, as well as a series of apparel and accessories.
This fresh take on the 990v1 reimagines a versatile lifestyle sneaker, first presented as a running shoe all the way back in 1982. It arrives in a customary New Balance colour scheme of navy and grey, with the wider collection inspired by ‘sculpture centres’, referring to the humble neighbourhood gyms throughout the US. The shoe uses a silver blue mesh construction with hairy suede overlays. Mismatched dual branding adds bespoke detailing to the tongue, whilst a signature reflective ‘N’ and heel tabs complete the silhouette.
The accompanying apparel further expands on the capsule’s theme. The Carhartt WIP Arcan Jacket appears in a washed-out canvas, with the addition of a snap-on hood. Both its outer and its blanket lining feature graphic elements seen within the collection. Jersey-based staples including a new garment-dyed short sleeve sweatshirt, with the collection rounded out by an offering of graphic t-shirts and accessories, including a reversible beanie, towel, and a water bottle produced by Nalgene.
The Carhartt WIP x New Balance Sculpture Center capsule collection launches at HIP on 16/09/22 online and in Leeds.
