Last week saw HIP and local Leeds-based creative company Sable host an event to celebrate Sable as ‘ORIGINALS’, joined by Sable’s community and the friends, family and local faces that make up the wider HIP circle.

Sable is a multi-faceted creative studio and production company based in Leeds made up of black graphic designers, DJs, sound engineers, set designers, directors, musicians and more. The collective has gained a reputation for throwing some of the most progressive parties in the city – giving a platform to local talent alongside the national and international DJs pushing the most exciting black diasporic club sounds, both through Sable’s own programme and other local collectives. Away from parties, Sable shoots films, takes photos, records audio, makes podcasts, hosts workshops and curates programmes from its home in Leeds. All of Sable’s work points towards a social mission aiming to lower the barriers to creative media for young (especially black) people in the city. Sable provides free access to space and equipment as well as regular workshops and training programmes.
