adidas SPZL x C.P. Company

adidas SPZL and C.P. Company’s collaboration is a tribute to both brands’ subcultural roots. The collection includes six takes on archival gems. Two colours of the Wimberley SPZL, a rugged Helvellyn inspired by the landscapes of England’s northern mountains, a rich tonal green SL 83, Italia SPZL from the 2021 collection, and finally the Manchester SPZL – reworked by C.P. Company with premium materials.

The apparel features two iconic military shapes from C.P. Company’s history, alongside classic SPZL utility looks and accessories – rounded off with co-branding and classic iconography.

The collection launches on Tuesday 12.11.24 online via the draw live on our website, and in store at HIP Leeds & Manchester from 9am – first come first served.

The CP Wimberley SPZL is based on a perforated version of the Universal from the ’80s, which Gary Aspden uncovered in his archive. The model stays true to the OG’s colour scheme, whilst introducing modern materials. A second Wimberley colourway is also decorated in premium suede with a classic gumsole.

The Helvellyn takes inspiration from the rugged mountains of northern England, reworking the silhouette of an ’80s outdoors shoe called the Nepal in a timeless ‘Cardboard’ and ‘Grey’ colourway.

The SL 83 is a playful take on the SL 82, also taking design inspiration from the SL80a SPZL from SS19. Its main features are a t-toe finish and mixed material upper designed by C.P. Company, which creates a stark tonal look.

In AW21 adidas SPZL collaborated with C.P. Company for the latter’s 50th anniversary to create the Italia SPZL – brought back this season in rich leather and a blue colourway inspired by the Italian national flag.

The Manchester SPZL is an undoubted icon in the SPZL lineage, reworked by C.P. Company – an iconic moment in the 10 year history of adidas SPZL.

The Flying Jacket was one of C.P. Company’s best-selling lines in the late ’80s and early ’90s – inspired by US Army A-1 flying jackets. A standout style in the collaboration, the version is crafted from a rich nylon outer shell with 90% duck down padding. Finishes touches include a dual-branded lens, detachable branding at the chest and iconic C.P. sailor iconography on the lining.

The Parka is a staple military-inspired silhouette by C.P. Company. The collaboration design has a nylon outer shell and thick duck down padding, rounded off with utilitarian pockets and a dual-branded lens at the sleeve.

The Settend is cut from needle cord, and was introduced in two colourways during the early days of SPZL. This version references a classic C.P. tone of ‘Olive Green’, offset with shades of ‘Burgundy’.

The Pocket Tee is an elegant staple in the collection. The logo is inspired by the branding of vintage 1989 1000 Miglia C.P. Company vest which highlights 10 years of SPZL.

Obsessed with military uniform, Massimo Osti kept a large collection of books on the subject, used to inform the brand’s themes and design language. It was here that he uncovered the now iconic image of a British sailor – a beacon of dependability.

This design is based on a Half Zip from the one of the first SPZL seasons, refined in a wool construction with nylon panels and zippers provided by C.P. Company.

The Pocket Tee is an elegant staple in the collection. The logo is inspired by the branding of vintage 1989 1000 Miglia C.P. Company vest which highlights 10 years of SPZL.

The Grisdale Bag references a crossbody bag from the adidas ‘Frezeit’ range in the ’80s – updated through a slightly wrinkled recycled nylon finished with metal zippers and co-branding.

The Cap continues the collaboration’s use of a wrinkled nylon, with branding inspired by a vintage 1989 1000 Miglia C.P. Company vest which highlights 10 years of SPZL.

The Settend Hat is produced in needle corduroy, focused around seasonality and functionality through its adjustable features.

The padded CP SPZL gloves return in rich leathers with fleece lining and woven branding.
