New Balance 2002R ‘Protection Pack’ Mirage Grey & Dark Navy
The 2002R from New Balance is inspired by the brands running shoe catalogue from the 2000s for a retro-meets-modern aesthetic, with endless comfort provided by the ABZORB midsole and ABZORB SBS heel cushioning. The ‘Protection Pack’ iteration of the ever-popular 2002R features an open foam tongue and rugged panelling on the upper, layered to create a rough and deconstructed look throughout, whilst retaining the silhouettes instantly recognisable shape.

Nike Dunk Low ‘Coconut Milk’
A firm favourite from 1980s Basketball history – Nike returns for 2022 with a plethora of colourways for the ever-popular Dunk silhouette in both high and low iterations. The Dunk Low ‘Coconut Milk’ features a premium leather upper with a clean and creamy colour blocked design throughout – all finished with a court focused rubber outsole and heritage inspired tongue.

YZY 700 ‘MNVN Geode’
The YZY 700 ‘MNVN Geode’ features an upper composed of lightweight polyester with no-sew overlays offering enhanced breathability, flexibility, and comfort. No-tie bungee laces allow easy on and off wear, while reflective material throughout specific areas of the model add unique design cues and visual interest. 25% of the components used to make the upper contain a minimum of 50% recycled content. The full-length drop-in BOOST midsole provides the ultimate underfoot cushioning experience, while the PU midsole adds comfort and durability.

Here at HIP we’ve been carefully curating the finest collections from across the globe since 1987 – our new women’s offering values garments that have a story to tell, with construction and quality at the forefront. Explore our latest Women’s offering with exciting deliveries landing weekly from brands such as Beams Boy, Girls of Dust, Carhartt WIP, YMC and more. The first floor of our Leeds store will now be dedicated to stocking product from our women’s range – sitting alongside the already existing curated selection of living and homeware products.
To highlight the official launch of HIP Women’s, we visited an array of local creatives that we are fans of in their respective studio spaces to present their work and showcase standout pieces from our SS22 offering.

Jenny Beard
Jenny Beard is a painter working within contemporary painting, and her process is built upon automatic drawing, using digital tools to create and manipulate sketches. Abstract imagery is used to explore optical space, depth, and flatness. The work is open ended and explorative, dealing with the paradox of appropriating abstract marks for abstract paintings. During this mimetic experience, the work could be read as representational.

Sunken Studio
Sunken Studio is a dedicated co-working ceramics centre in Leeds City Centre. A community of creative and technically minded types who make because it’s rewarding, fulfilling and affirming. Their mission is to make making a lot less lonely, working alongside each other, whether they are beginning, continuing or fully immersed with clay.

Emma Hardaker
Emma Hardaker is known for her punchy palettes and bold, abstract style and her passion for working in the public realm. She is interested in producing accessible art encounters outside of an institutional setting and has developed and delivered multiple projects in Leeds, Yorkshire and beyond. Emma’s practice borders between design and socially engaged art. Believing that artists and designers can play a part in contributing towards the quality of life for communities and the built environment they live, work and play in.

Ellie Heyward, also known as Elettr is an artist & designer from North West England specialising in calligraphy and painting. Her inspiration comes primarily from nature and space, and is particularly interested in the form of letters and pushing their boundaries into abstraction.
