HIP Does Gorpcore
For some reading this, you may initially ask yourself – what is Gorpcore? The sub-genre “Gorpcore” was coined in roughly 2017 – an abbreviated and modified version of the phrase “good ol’ raisins and peanuts” to represent the crunchy, wholesome, granola aesthetic that was emerging in style at the time. In recent years, the wide appreciation and popularity for technical outdoors gear has grown slowly and gradually in cities such as London, New York, Tokyo and beyond, sending ripples across satellite urban towns globally – think a global love for GORE-TEX, side bags, deep pile fleece and trail shoes in one with the added fun of layering, vibrant palettes and as many pockets as anyone could need.
Here at HIP, we’re all for the love of gorp and the lifestyle it brings, represented in the brands we carry and support – with outerwear and technical accessories from the likes of Patagonia, and Wander, Battenwear, Snow Peak, Nike ACG and The North Face, alongside rugged, comfortable and durable trail approved footwear from Reebok, New Balance and Red Wing. We decided to hit the trails on a dog walk in both Leeds and Liverpool to test out our latest SS21 arrivals as we all continue to appreciate and enjoy the outdoors more in our everyday life.
