Continuing the new year with a bang, HIP favourites New Balance present a special homage to the 991 in the form of the 991 ‘Made In UK’ 20th Anniversary Edition. 2021 marks the 20th anniversary of the New Balance 991, one of the standout models in footwear and apparel brand’s 99X Series. Since the first 990 release way back in 1982, the series has seen sporadic updates, leading up to the release of the 991 in 2001. The 20th Anniversary edition comes in a classic Grey/Navy colourway as a nod to this original release. The materials used are not too dissimilar from the original; premium pig suede overlays and breathable mesh bases all compliment the classic colour arrangement the model has become synonymous with. Visual cues in ode to the anniversary of the 991 can be seen on the label behind the tongue and “2001” stitched on the heel.
