The Hip Store Selects – Jackets AW’16

It looks like the winter weather has finally decided to rear its head and that can mean only one thing… a new jacket is in order.

If you’re struggling to decide what to go for we’ve picked out a few different styles from our latest collections.

Waterproof

As we do live in the UK, a waterproof jacket is a must but luckily we’ve got a great selection this season.

Norse Projects have joined forces with Danish rainwear experts Elka to bring you this Anker Classic Jacket. Elka fabrics are designed to stand the test of time whilst we all know that Norse Projects’ simple design will keep you looking good no matter what the weather may throw at you.

The ‘Night Watch’ collection takes classic Barbour styles and gives them a good shake-up with the use of technical fabrics and detailing. The Four Bell Jacket is equipped for the worst kinds of weather and features waterproof zips, stowaway outer hood and a quilted lining for extra warmth.

Parka

A pretty classic style for any occasion it’s hard to go wrong with a parka. Whether you’re looking for an iconic design or any update of a classic we’ve got a few great options this time around.

Designed with outdoors in mind the Battenwear Northfield Denim Parka takes its inspiration from the classic parka designs of the late 70’s. This style is cut from a premium denim cotton and features a faux shearling lining for added warmth and comfort.

When it comes to making products suited to the great outdoors, Fjallraven are up there with the best of them and the Greenland is a true brand classic when winter rolls around. Crafted from the Fjallraven’s signature G-1000 fabric it is durable and built to last whilst the pile fleece lining ensures warmth. This style is clean cut and simple and the perfect option for those rainy, cold winter days.

Down Filled

If you’re looking for the ultimate in warmth then a down option is the one to go for.

A warmer update of Patagonia’s classic down sweater the Hi-Loft Down Sweater Hoody is crafted from a 100% recycled polyester ripstop shell with a DWR finish which is designed to block wind and weather whilst the durability will resist tears and abrasion.

A great jacket for winter the Penfield Bowerbridge is made from a nylon water-resistant and windproof outer and has an 80/20 premium down inner with a 550 fill power meaning that it’s going to keep you warm and dry which is always a bonus when winter crawls around.

Wool

Warm and smart, a wool coat will see you through years of winters to come, here are a couple of favourites.

For over 100 years, Filson USA has produced the highest quality and most durable menswear products around. The Mackinaw Cruiser is an iconic style dating back to 1941, crafted from 100% virgin wool, it’s designed for maximum comfort whilst also having a natural rain repellency and insulating warmth in any weather conditions.

Another piece of classic design from the team at Universal Works, the Melton Battle Jacket is crafted from a Melton wool mix and features a removable shearling collar for extra warmth. Staying true to the Universal Works aesthetic it’s fairly crisp in its design with two lower patch pockets and a single one at the chest.

Cord

If you’re feeling a bit adventurous and want to go for something slightly different then cord is a good route for winter.

An iconic field jacket from Bleu De Paname the Vest De Chase is crafted from a beautiful cotton cord. It’s the ideal jacket for the festive season, layered up with some thick knits and winter accessories.

The Bedford Jacket is a classic style from the team at Engineered Garments but there’s something a little different about this seasons iteration… it’s crafted from a super special 11W corduroy cotton. The Bedford is a classic fit making it the perfect shape for that smart/casual crossover.

YMC x Padmore & Barnes

Padmore and Barnes have been hand crafting beautiful shoes from their Kilkenny factory since 1934. Responsible for the production of the classic Clarks Wallabee  until 1987 when Clarks moved their production overseas, not to be deterred, the team at Padmore and Barnes decided to keep doing what they do best and have been making their own quality footwear ever since. To this day they are recognised as leaders in the field of design, innovation and production and continue to create some of the most sought after casual shoes in the market.

YMC were the UK sales agents for Padmore and Barnes when they first started over 20 years ago and join forces this season to re-issue some of their favourite, iconic styles.

The Trail Shoe

An original Padmore & Barnes suede upper wrapped in a textured rubber sole from heel to toe, the Trail shoe is hard wearing style, designed to last. They’re crafted from supple suede and completed with tonal laces and leather ankle trims.

An adaption of the Padmore and Barnes original moccasin the Trial Boot features a suede upper wrapped in a textured rubber sole from heel to toe, the Trail shoe is hard wearing style, designed to last. They’re crafted from supple suede and completed with tonal laces and leather ankle trims.

One Piece Shoe

The One Piece Shoe is crafted from a supple black leather with a unique side lace construction, these hand stitched lace ups are placed on Plantation crepe soles and are finished with tonal laces and moccasin stitching around the toe.

Patta x Carhartt WIP

After a huge success with their debut collaboration, Patta and Carhartt WIP combine again this autumn/winter for another iconic collection of apparel and accessories.

The resulting pieces have all been reinterpreted with Patta’s sense of style while keeping the Carhartt WIP DNA intact, aiming to reflect the relationship and respect between the two brands.

Highlights so far include the “Car-Lux” bomber jacket and “Nimbus” sweats. The range also includes classic crewneck sweatshirts, T-shirts and accessories, including the signature “Watch” hats and socks.

The range will be available online from 00.01 30.09.16.

Stussy x Dr. Martens

Stussy and Dr. Martens join forces once again this Autumn/Winter to bring us this new take on the classic 8 eye boot. This new style is made from a premium grained leather and a luxe cheetah print hair panel.

This boot comes in a black or cherry red. As always, the upper and sole are welt and spot sewn together, heat-sealed and finished with a dual-branded sock liner and the traditional Dr. Martens woven heel loop.

Launch 9th September.
