Ten c: Understanding The True Value Of Outerwear Craftsmanship

Named after the Danish tale by Hans Christian Andersen – The Emperor’s New Clothes – Ten c forces those to look beyond fads and trends and towards the value of well-crafted clothing built to last a lifetime. Designed by Alessandro Pungetti who has been working with C.P. Company for over 20 years – Ten c is all about pushing the limits when it comes to high-level craftsmanship and new boundary-breaking fabrication techniques. Pulling inspiration from the deep history of Japanese craftsmanship, Ten c often uses a wide range of specially engineered Japanese textiles across each collection, with special attention to the use of original Japanese jersey. OJJ is crafted in Japan and then dyed and sewn in Italy, resulting in timeless outerwear pieces built for life across a wide range of unique silhouettes. In acknowledgement of the importance of timeless Japanese manufacturing, Ten c took inspiration from the kikumon seal to create the Ten c seal logo seen inside each piece.

With minimal branding and more focus on the importance of quality, timelessness, and fabrications – Ten c compares their outerwear to the way a pair of Jeans is worn and ages with you over time. Created to live and age with the wearer, Ten c’s incredible fabrications will mould over time to create your own personal fit and create a timeless outerwear piece that is unequivocally yours and only yours. Adding further appeal to the idea of a jacket for life – Ten c adds many modular capabilities to their pieces, allowing for versatility in wear and customisation with functional liners and hoods. All in all, being able to masterfully create timeless outerwear that merges high-end fabrications with an adaptable and hard-wearing sensibility means each Ten c piece is simply outerwear that can last a lifetime.

Ten c is all about looking beyond what you are told to see and to value what is truly there. That ability to look beyond the fads and trends is a new interpretation of the original fairy tale – one clearly seen in Ten c’s impressive outerwear offering this season at HIP.

Survival Down Jacket

The Survival Down Jacket is a high-end water-resistant outerwear piece, suitable for the colder months thanks to a dependable water-resistant white duck down insulated fill for added warmth. This jacket has been crafted with a special nylon Tactel fabric which was first developed in the 1980s – giving a soft next-to-skin feel and lightweight construction, whilst giving faster drying times and increased strength and durability.

Garment Dyed Anorak

The Garment Dyed Anorak is a standout, water-resistant piece from this season’s outerwear offering from Ten c. This anorak has been made from the brand’s OJJ fabric (Original Japanese Jersey) and has been garment dyed to produce a unique look that will age to create a unique patina through wear over time. Keeping function in mind, this versatile mid-layer outerwear style includes the addition of a buttoned chin strap and an adjustable hood for further protection from the elements.

Cyclone Parka

The Cyclone Parka is a longer length outerwear style inspired by archival slim-fitting German snorkel parkas of the late 1960s. Made in Italy using Ten c’s signature OJJ fabric (Original Japanese Jersey) – this fabric is knitted, not woven with a unique microfibre/nylon yarn. The garment dying of this fabric is exclusive to Ten c, who are willing to go the extra mile to work on the finish on this jersey which gives a wholly unique end touch, feel and quality. Keeping true to the silhouette’s original vintage reference – key details such as a hood with drawcords, funnel neckline, full zip fastening, button storm flap and fishtail hem all remain.

Alpine Down Jacket

A key dependable down style for the cold winter months – the Alpine Down Jacket is suitable for even the harshest conditions thanks to a water-resistant nylon shell and white duck down insulated fill. This jacket has been crafted using a specially formulated garment-dyed resined transparent nylon, which gives a deep and rich unique colour profile whilst remaining water-resistant and capable of providing excellent performance in harsh conditions. Featuring a more stripped back and minimal appearance, the Alpine Down Jacket is all about providing reliable warmth and durability in a timeless outerwear investment piece that can be worn year upon year.

Hooded Down Liner

A staple function first Ten c style – The Down Liner is designed to be compatible with all Ten c Outer OJJ Jackets, essentially allowing you to customise your jacket and give extra warmth when needed. Down-filled and reversible, it can also be worn as a standalone jacket when an extra outer shell isn’t needed. Made in Italy to the highest of standards, this liner’s cotton canvas reinforced seams and premium down stuffing have been reliably constructed to the final detail – resulting in yet another timeless piece from Ten c made to define seasonality and last for years.

Rengen Anorak

A prime example of Ten c’s established fabric technology prowess – the Rengen Anorak is a piece-dyed, water-repellent anorak made using Ten c’s original Japanese fabric which has been crafted in Japan and then down-filled and finished in Italy. Recognised as one of the best insulating resources in the world – the down fill used within the OJJ fabric is a hypoallergenic and compliant goose down, able to guarantee warmth in even the harshest conditions. To give the Rengen Anorak further capabilities, a special Teflon treatment has been used to finish the outer and give a water-resistant rendering addition to this unmistakably robust jacket.
