adidas SPEZIAL FW23
Gary Aspden’s coveted adidas SPEZIAL imprint returns with a long-awaited collection for FW23. Referencing adidas Originals’ rich archives, the collection draws influence from vintage outdoorswear aesthetics, guided by the brand’s unique perspective. Each design is defined by attention to detail and deep-rooted storytelling, embracing adidas Originals’ subcultural heritage.
The footwear collection presents several unique silhouettes for this season. The Hiaven returns from FW22 – a durable, winter-ready model that updates a SPZL fan favourite, the Winterhill boot. Elsewhere, the Moscrop 2.0 – a remodel of the vintage Raider – is crafted from robust Cordura. Functional design continues with the Inverness, an outdoor/ leisure hybrid model constructed with a smooth leather upper in a seasonal dark brown tone. The collection updates cultural classics in the form of the Samba Deco, taking cues from a ’70s Eastern European-made training shoe, alongside the Gazelle, moving towards a modern version of the shoe by incorporating a host of elements from late ’60s and early ’70s models. Finally the collection explores the ’80s with the Lawkholme – an elevated take on running shoes of the era, rendered in a sophisticated neutral colour scheme, whilst the Englewood references the late ’80s hightop Galaxy II and is a classic low-top court shoe.
Moving onto the clothing collection, adidas SPEZIAL introduce timeless, outdoors-inspired outerwear: the popular Haslingden Jacket returns – a piece that highlights the SPEZIAL DNA with its utilitarian pocket system. The Moorfield Jacket is another quintessential SPEZIAL piece – an anorak in a two tone ‘Sesame’ and ‘Green Orbit’ colour palette. Whilst the lightweight Topfield Liner is padded with insulative Primaloft down and rounded off with a bespoke tonal SPEZIAL Mod Trefoil stitched logo.
Other items include the Rossendale Pant, reinterpreting the classic track pant with a functional approach. The Suddel Track Top and matching Track Pant have a sleek utilitarian feel due to a dark grey ‘Sinder’ colourway, with the Top featuring an extended version of the Mod Trefoil logo which connects to a continuous mountain-like graphic extending across the front and rear. The Lawton Track Top is a premium knit for the season, crafted from recycled fabric in a clean ‘Wonder Beige’ colour. Another returning favourite is the Banktop Hoodie from SS19, recognised by an oversized dual-opening front pocket. Finishing the apparel collection, staple items like the Long Sleeve Polo, Graphic T-Shirt and Mod Trefoil Sweatshirt are all present.
The adidas SPEZIAL collection launches at HIP on 16/11/23 online at 8am and in our Leeds & Manchester stores from 10am.
