Hyo-Isak is an abstract expressionist operating under his own eponymous label HYO-ISAK. His artistic pursuits revolve around pushing the boundaries of realism by integrating unexpected elements and contexts, exploring the interplay between the conventional and the innovative. BEAMS PLUS | HIP – AW23

This season HIP has worked with Japanese label BEAMS PLUS to create a seven-piece collection of versatile Ivy League-inspired leisurewear. The prestigious universities that formed the American Ivy League look were famous not only for their academies, but involvement in sports. Universities’ distinctive uniforms and casual training gear provide a wealth of iconic style references.

Material choice in the capsule offers functionality – each item is designed to fit seamlessly within a casual day-to-day wardrobe. The collection extends BEAMS PLUS’ design concept of making authentic menswear built to stand the test of time.

The capsule introduces tasteful staples: a MIL Liner Reversible Jacket with a cosy fleece interior – an insulative material also used on the Gym Fleece Pant. Other items include a relaxed Half Zip Two-Tone Sweatshirt, a reflective co-branded Logo Print T-Shirt and accessories in the way of a Bandana, Neck Gaiter and Six-Panel Fleece Cap.

BEAMS PLUS | HIP – AW23 – available online and in our Leeds & Manchester stores.

adidas Originals by Wales Bonner

adidas Originals and Wales Bonner continue their ongoing partnership with an Autumn-Winter collection. The overarching narrative for the season moves from the ’70s to ’90s, whilst staying true to the designer’s exploration of athletic codes.

The collection presents a selection of refined and elegant archival looks: off-pitch styles include an elevated knit set in mahogany brown alongside football shorts in a sand-coloured nylon with the iconic Three Stripes contrast. Key pieces are rendered in a lightweight nylon, including a pale sky tracksuit with reflective piping and a black nylon top with a contrasting vivid green knit collar. All pieces are available in unisex sizing.

The footwear selection evolves Wales Bonner’s now signature take on the adidas Originals Samba silhouette. Two looks incorporate luxurious faux pony-hair uppers and gum soles – one in leopard print, the other in a light tan colorway. Whilst another set features suede overlays and signature contrast stitching, evoking the designer’s penchant for elevated details and unexpected touches.

Informed by broad research encompassing critical theory, musical composition, literature and history, Wales Bonner embraces a multiplicity of perspectives, proposing a distinct notion of luxury, via a hybrid of European and Afro-Atlantic approaches. Grace Wales Bonner launched her London-based eponymous label in 2014, after graduating from Central Saint Martins. Established as a menswear brand, Wales Bonner’s soulful look soon expanded to womenswear. The award-winning designer proposes a considered wardrobe of retro, sportswear-inspired cuts and contemporary tailoring.

The adidas Originals by Wales Bonner collection is online now and available in our Leeds & Manchester stores.

Friends Of HIP: Louis Bever – New Balance 576 & 991 ‘Made In UK’

Bever explores abstract, contemporary and Renaissance paintings, managing to combine his love of retro ’90s and ‘2000s football with art.
