Gary Aspden’s coveted adidas Originals SPEZIAL imprint returns with a new long-awaited collection for the SS21 season. Featuring a wide variety of silhouettes taking reference from the adidas Originals archives, the collection draws inspiration from the 1970s through to the early 90s and uses a strong 1980s colour palette mixed with the bright neons of coastal surfwear.

Paying direct homage to Aspden’s upbringing, adidas SPEZIAL presents the iconic Blackburn SPZL in an all-new red ‘Ewood’ iteration. This bold colourway takes its lead from the unreleased and highly coveted first round sample of the original Blackburn SPZL. Linking to the red of the Lancashire rose, the ‘Ewood’ revises the original Blackburn with an inverted colourway flipping the original all green upper to this bold and rich red. Featuring a classic supple suede upper, the Blackburn ‘Ewood’ is finished off with collegiate green laces in the tongue, navy outsole and tongue and a subtle foil print of the Lancashire Rose to the back side wall.
